Ever since I was little I’ve always had a problem with inadequacy. I could never finish at the top. I would aim high and land low. But I pushed myself until I could push no further and yet I seem to land right back in this hole that is perhaps to deep to climb. I need to be the best. I’m competitive and driven where it counts. But I need to remind myself more often than not that there will always be someone better, more skilled and smart and a natural talent. Maybe I’m not the best at one thing but perhaps I’m the best at everything. I mean maybe it’s better not to be the best musician or writer or artist. Perhaps it is better just to be well-rounded and significantly accomplished in all that I try. Maybe that’s the answer to  my inadequacy. Maybe I wasn’t inadequate at all but just good. And maybe “good” is all I need.
